"Gently Johnny" cover?
Google is telling me that Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds once did a cover of the song "Gently Johnny," and yet nowhere can I find mention of where this recording exists or when it was ever performed. Does anyone know??

I wonder why there are no posts about the Nick Cave exhibition (or at least from any Aussie Cavers). Basically, the man himself has gone through all of his old stuff: lyrics, artwork, photography, books and a whole lot of his other old things. I know it's coming to Perth in May, so I presume that before then it will be in Adelaide (overseas fans are more than welcome to drop by!). Well, since I am rather bad at expressing myself, here's a delicious link which may be of use to Perthurian cave fans. And also, is anyone else looking forward to the film called The Road? Cave on the soundtrack :) Should be brilliant then.

Bad Seeds co-founder Harvey quits
Why is there no update here still? The slash community is thriving by comparison, ha...

Mick Harvey has left the Bad Seeds:
"For a variety of personal and professional reasons I have chosen to discontinue my ongoing involvement with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. More information and comment will emerge in the coming days and weeks I expect. After 25 years I feel I am leaving the band as it experiences one of its many peaks; in very healthy condition, and with fantastic prospects for the future. I’m confident Nick will continue to be a creative force and that this is the right time to pass on my artistic and managerial role to what has become a tremendous group of people who can support him in his endeavours both musically and organizationally. It was a fantastic experience to finish my touring days in the band with the recent shows in Australia and the unique events that took place in conjunction with All Tomorrow’s Parties, especially Mt. Buller, which was one of the many highlights of my involvement with the band throughout the years. I shall continue working on the Bad Seeds back catalogue re-issues project over the coming year and look forward to the new opportunities I shall be able to accommodate as a result of my changed circumstances."

Mercy Seat
I'm just getting into Nick Cave and I've been listening to the Mercy Seat a lot. What do you all think he's referring to when he talks says:

Like my good hand I
tatooed E.V.I.L. across it's brother's fist
That filthy five! They did nothing to challenge or resist.

Is this referring to something in particular, the filthy five?

Hey I was wondering if anyone could tell me what was on the DVD that came with the "Nocturama"(Limited Edition) album a few years ago. Is it worth it?

Ficcing Seeds pimp
Hi everyone!

Just here to tell you about a community I created a while ago called ficcing_seeds. Originally, it was intended for the sole purpose of creating fan fiction featuring members from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds but with the recent collapse of both nixa_omfg and nickcavesseeds, it's now more of a general Cave-esque discussion community with a strong focus on fiction/meta.

I'd like to invite all of you to come along, hang out and even get involved. If you've ever flirted with the idea of writing a story involving some members of the Bad Seeds or you're interesting in sharing thoughts/opinions/cat macros with everyone, then we'd love to see you there. All you people who miss nixa_omfg with a passion (like me), then why not migrate over? And for those of you who want a place talk about things that might not be suited to a strictly music/band oriented community such as this one, it'd be great to see you there too.

I love a thriving seeds-oriented community, don't you? :-)

So, if you've the time, come on over and check it out.

Come and check out ficcing_seeds today!

This might be a bit out of place, but I'm going to give it a shot.

I just moved to NYC and I'm trying to find people of like temperments. My boy's (well sorta- we ain't gonna do the long distance thang) band The Blackthorns- whom I HIGHLY recommend- will be touring through here next week and it's likely I'll meet some people there, but I was wondering what else is really going on with that sort of scene... Anything post-punk/gothic Americana/dark blues rock tends to be my weakness... Or strength- depends on how you look at it.

Any New Yorkers out there wanna give a heads up? Or have any interest in friending?

Another Film...
Nick Cave's Second Film Gets Go Ahead:
by Chris Taylor on 5/21/2006

Singer-turned-screenwriter Nick Cave has got the go-ahead for his second film, The Death Of A Ladies Man.

The film, about a sex addicted salesman, will be directed by John Hillcoat, who helmed Cave’s debut, gruesome Western The Proposition.

Ray Winstone, who also starred in The Proposition, will play the lead character – a beauty product salesman, who travels the south coast of England preying on lonely women.

The “darkly comic” film was announced at the current Cannes Film Festival by Kudos Pictures’ Paul Webster, who gushed to the Hollywood Reporter, "Nick Cave and John Hillcoat are among the freshest, most distinctive voices in cinema today."

The film will start shooting in September.

Looking for a source quote
I'm looking for the source quote to some lines Nick included in the song 'Darker With The Day', here:

"It was a Good day and an Evil day and
all was bright and new
And it seemed to me that most
destruction was beeing done
By those who could not choose
between the two"

I remember reading something about how he mentioned something similar in a newsletter paragraph he'd addressed to a woman who had been stalking him (Barbie), and he quoted a line from the person who came up with it. I've forgotten her name - anyone remember who & what it was?
